Special Powers? Empty Special Powers?

Post by StarWolf Fri Nov 18, 2011 11:02 pm

Special powers are used by 4 different factions. Each has unique special power. And to activate it you have to wait 7 days then it becomes activate.

Hualu - Economy Expolosion - Increase income rate by 200% for 24 ticks.
Daning - Warheads Armanets - Increase Strike action by 15% for 24 ticks.
Miyira - Missile Battle System - Increase Defense action by 20% for 24 ticks.
Kyora - Blackbird - Increase Covert Action by 25% for 24 ticks.

Just an idea...

Sounds like a good addition to me.

Keep suggesting things and maybe one day everyone will love it and it will be added to the game.

I actually don't mind the idea, except for the fact that you keep giving an unfair advantage to Hualu, in many if not all of your game suggestions. Why not make it even across the groups, so
Hualu - gets a 20% boost to Economy for a day
Daning - gets a 20% boost to Strike for a day
Miraya - gets a 20% boost to Defense for a day
Kyora - gets a 20% boost to Spy & Assassin for a day

This distribution would be more fair and equitable. cheers

actually it wouldn't be fair because each serves a different purpose

ok we have to set a standard somewhere so let's say it would be that 20% strike for 1 day

but the defender only wants to increase the def when his def is getting destroyed, chances are that person will be offline when that happens so the bonus will not get even used in the first place.
but even if it could get activated automatically, the attacker could just stop, wait a day and come back

kyora is similar to daning so I guess that could somehow be fair

the main problem starts here
90% of people would then pick the economy bonus and keep using it since, unless you're in a war, that economy bonus is better than all others.

Dont take this as discouragement that I dont want your suggestions, but most of these ideas have already been suggested here or on similar games and they never materialized into something good and useful
What's missing is maybe some little thing that would make it a very good improvement to the game

(but as you can see on the other topics it's hard to even set up something as simple as sabotage or assaults so that people think it's fair)

ok is there a way that the bonus could be diluted (lets say 5% bonus addition only) unless the person that he/she is attacking is online?

kyora is similar to daning so I guess that could somehow be fair

kyora needs smaller % (id say 10% boost) than the daning and miraya because with the way i see it kyora does not have to be diluted unless sabbing (dont want to give too big of an advantage over the people offline but at least some to make it worth your wild....so 7.5% boost )

the main problem starts here
90% of people would then pick the economy bonus and keep using it since, unless you're in a war, that economy bonus is better than all others.

hmmm. take out races all together and make it to where any race can pick any bonus and lower the income bonus to 5%

Simple answer would be to move away from a difference based on only economic factors and incorporate the difference between the races in the base power of the units.

Hualu produce more income per unit
Daning have more powerful strike units
Miraya have more powerful defensive units
Kyora have more powerful spy and assassin units

An example using Hualu as a base for the power setting you would then have
Danning Strike units 5% more powerful and other units the same power
Mirya Defense units 5 % more powerful and the other units the same power
Kyora Covert units 5% more powerful and the rest the same

Could be units or weapons right?

20% income boost is many times better than 20% of any other boost.
20% strike can make some sense if you are going to use it in an assault
20% defense is useless, because it makes only sense if you are going to have your defense destroyed
20% covert and assassin also makes sense only if you are going to use it.

All in all I would say that 20% income boost is about 3 times better than 20% strike boost,
and 20% strike boost is 3 times better than 20% defense and covert+ass bonuses.

How often can you activate it? only once after 7 days pass and never again?

all that does is practically give even more power to pbp. i have been thinking and cant really figure out a good way of giving each race a choice to use a superweapon without overpowering their already powered up strengths. any idea?

make it so it effects 1 of the 3 "other" stats, not their "main" stat?

So danning can use a weapon to boost Covert, assassin, or defense, but not strike, etc etc, etc

Hands KoS another beer.

Quick answer for Nomad on Weapons. No they are presently not included.
They could be but it then becomes much more complex and would be a complete rework of the weapon systems.

No matter what is done you still have to keep things balanced and that's not so easy to do when some of the units concerned don't have weapons.

The basic idea it to make each races strength their strong point while not giving them the ability to boost their weaknesses so that they can negate another races strength.

I'll expand further later when I have more time
