Hospital (50% of killed units will become wounded units instead, and players can research better health care to heal wounded units at a faster pase). Increases incentive to fight wars as it lowers the cost in wars, decreases the value a person loses and lets people rebuild faster after being massed.

From the ingame tool tips
Most important of all buildings!
Doubles life expectancy of your population from 50 yrs to 100 yrs. (Death rate falls from 2% to 1%)
Heals your units 5 times faster.

So my question is, do you get "wounded" troops with no hospital? or does that take effect upon building a hospital? If it takes effect upon building a hospital then the tool tip is inaccurate about healing 5 times faster. Faster then what?


Does this exist on both attack and defensive sides?

If both then a possible suggestion, allow defensive units a better rate then attack. Defensive units are on their home planet and closer to hospital where an attack solider must be evaced back home.

No matter if you have a hospital or not, 50% of all "killed units" will become wounded instead.

They will heal at 1% rate per day.

With hospital, your units heal at a rate of 5% per day.
