Re: Posting discussion
so that it changes the entire context of the message?
Interesting. You say using a color is to much work, but yet you delete one message just to create another, and thats "Less"? work?
For future referene, what Kenzu removed was the fact he said everything he has posted in the AW2 section other than in the trade section was posted as an admin, not as a player. I then called him out on it and he deleted the post, reposted with a different context and removed what he said from being veiwed.
Nice work there "admin".
Some might say thats an abuse of your forum admin powers as well, but I'm sure your actions were not as a forum admin, nor as a game admin, but as a player, and well within your rights.

Re: Posting discussion
Unlike you I often write posts in multiple steps. I write them, and then often edit them so that they convey the excact message which I intend to convey.
Now there is no real difference between writing a post, and then immediately editing it by replacing it with a new message, or simply deleting the message and rewriting it.
Abuse of power would be if I was editing or deleting your posts.
Since I was working on my post, it should be of no concern to you.

Re: Posting discussion
When you change a post to mean something different then you said in a conversation with me, it does concern me.
You deleted the post instead of editing the post to try to change the context, and completely change what you said.

Noone but an admin can remove a post once its responded to
so to me that means you had to use your power.

Re: Posting discussion
I wasn't aware someone has even read it. I removed it within a minute after posting it. I realised that someone posted a reply to it only after I have posted the new post.

Unless you being an admin changes something, that is not true.
Because if anyone has responded it tells me plainly when trying to alter or delete anything after someone posts after me. Now it may be different for you as an admin, but if its not,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
A new message has been posted while you were writing your response. Please
review the new message posted below and decide if you want to modify
your response or continue posting as written.
Either way its mute now. I have made and proven my point and do not care to go any further unless admin wants to clarify if he gets the same messages as the normal users, or if he and Kenzu's accounts are different since they are admin accounts.

While I can see some reasons for this it is not a practice I would advocate anyone to use because it can cause issues like those expressed by other posters. When posting something that I want to work on in steps I will use another editor to create the post in (notepad for example or Word if you want a spell checker) and only when I am happy with the entire post will I copy and paste it into the forum thus ensuring that I only post what I intend to say.
When editing posts there is also a Reason for Editing field available and use of this feature lets people know why a post has been edited.
In most forums that I visit and especially the well run ones the way you have expressed how you post is frowned upon and will usually result in a swift rebuke from the Forum Administrators or Moderators

Re: Posting discussion
you have to keep in mind he is the forum admin and mod tho.
I mean he can change anything he wants, heck i mess up and edit all the time, but saying something, having someone reply calling them specificly on what they said, then deleting your post and creating a new one, and then after all that saying it was just "easier" is Bull.
When I get called out, or shown I'm wrong I admit it and go on. Some people can't.

He is moving things to suit him again, without asking or even notifiying those involved. Typical Kenzu behavior.

but you can always edit your own posts though, no matter how many people have already posted after you
then again, there's reason why the preview button exists

I am very well aware of that. That is EXACTLY why this entire discussion is going on.
Kenzu decided to delete his post and make another INSTEAD of editing the one already made. He changed the entire context of what he said by doing so. Then he attempted to explain that deleting and reposting was "easier" then editing, Then said he didnt realise someone else had posted, yet for us normal accounts that is IMPOSSIBLE as it plainly tells you either someone has posted, or you can not delete a post someone has responded to. If its different for the admin accounts that is fine, but if its not then Kenzu has lied and been caught doing it.
*edit*
I would also like to request this be moved to the appropriate section of the forum
https://aderanwars.forumotion.com/f7-forum-discussion
This has nothing to do with AW2 as it is a discussion about forum posting and etiquette. It does not belong here.

I can change "the entire context" by editing the post as well.

But for normal users if someone has replied it says it was edited but if admin it doesn't say that.

Re: Posting discussion
actually I dont think that's how the system works.seaborgium wrote:But for normal users if someone has replied it says it was edited but if admin it doesn't say that.
Look at kenzu's post right above yours and my only post on the first page. I added a dot at the end of both posts right now.
On his post it doesn't say a word about it getting edited, on mine it does. There have been posts after both of them so if kenzu would edit his, then it would also say it was edited (only after someone had already posted after kenzu)
So I think it only shows publicly if someone edits their own post. Normal users can only edit their own posts.
Unless obviously one writes a reason for editing, then it will probably always show up

Once again you prove my point and I thank you for that.
When you edit a post and change the context it is permanently marked as edited for all to see.
When you delete a post and post another in its place, then no one will ever know you changed the context or meaning of the post.

lol, i don't remember writing this post last night... i had too much wine...
but it's true, it was in the first half of 2010, don't know exactly when
he said all my post were the same, but other than the fact that they had Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious in them, the message was different
anyway, don't matter now, let's forget about it
LATER EDIT: however, nomad and his memory impressed me
