Lottery
The idea crossed my mind when i was handling a trade this morning and i think it would make a game a bit more fun.
All the resources lost due to trading would be stored in a lottery, that means:
- galactic market
- private broker
- banking
Every participant should pay (percentage?) of total resources worth to enter the contest in order to participate, rewards should not affect PTR.
This is just a brief idea, i think admin won't like it since he's busy anyway but i thought i would share it with you. I have no clue if it's possibile to make or not nor how much work it requires to make it. The point is to make a game a bit more interesting.

- This could cause overfeeding: its all based on luck and if the contest is running weekly, its not really a big deal, however i have no idea how much kuwal or all resources together is weekly captured due to trading.
- Small players would have to pay a lot more if the entry fee is based on % of pot - well why not for once let the advantage be for bigger players

Its not an advantage to the bigger players. Lets say the pot is 1 bill. To a small player thats a huge amount, to the biggest players that 1 turns income and hardly worth attempting to win.

Just a few of my thoughts above. I am not for or against it. I do not think it will impact the game enough to be worth the time invested in coding but I am more then willing to give it a go. Run it through Beta/Evolutions first to debugg it.

Re: Lottery
No offense but I am stricly against any kind of gambling.
Additionally Aderan Wars is a strategy game, not a casino. It should be skill which determines your success and not your luck.

Your not Admin here so your opinion is mute. There is more "skill" than "luck" in professional gambling anyway.

Re: Lottery
pooling resources from a lottery wouldn't seem right
there was another thread about gambling, as nomad put it, either the net benefit is higher (you win more than lose) so people will just grow based on how much they can click buttons/enter resources, or the net benefit is lower (lose more than win) so no one will bother using it

The opinion of everyone counts.
Aderan Wars should not encourage gambling.
Because gambling can turn into a gambling addiction, which is not only harmful to the individual, but also to the society.
Skill or not, in the end most people suffer, because they are lured into gambling with odds against them, based on false promises of a money gain.
They will lose their money in casinos, or against skilled gamblers because they believe that they can win, but they cannot.
Another reason why gambling is bad, even moderate gambling, which doesn't manifest itself into an addiction, is that it creates a money flow in the wrong direction, from many people to few people (mostly from people, especially poor people, to casino owners). This increases the disparity between rich and poor (making poor people poorer and rich people richer), harming the society.
In the end gambling doesn't produce wealth, only leads to a redistribution of wealth from the hands of many to the hands of few.

Re: Lottery
Much like the PTR update.
It takes the ability of many to buy/trade freely and forces them to use only 2 of you...

You can still trade as freely as before. Can you name a single person who was banned for trading freely, because I don't know a single one. I only know people who got punished for feeding when they were braking game rules. They would be punished regardless of PTR existing or not.
and how is this related to the lottery?

You are correct, but this is your ADMIN account to be used for ADMIN business, not for you to abuse since you know for a fact it can not be set to "foe" and ignored. How hard is it for you to act right?

OH NO you didn't!!!!!!!!!!
This is a war game,,,,,, so that means its far worse then gambling as it can turn into violence, death, and genocide which is not only harmful for the individual, but also to the society!!!!!!!!!!
Kenny,,,,,, that was really lame mate, really lame

I agree with the first part,,,, but the last part you are completely and totally wrong. Period. I truely hope you are not stupid enough to actually believe it. Chances are slim yes, but new/unskilled/first timers can and do win. Proven fact.

virtual war does no harm to anyone, I don't know of any real war that started because one of their leaders played Aderan Wars or some other war game , but I know for sure that some people who play virtual gambling end up broke with a gambling addiction. Yes, it is not true for most people, maybe only 1 out of 100, who plays virtual gambling ends up with a gambling addiciton wasting his money each month. But even 1% is bad.

and I hope you are not stupid enough to believe that it's typical for gamblers to stand up, leave and never come back to a casino after they win.

Re: Lottery
Nope, I don't, and I never said I did.
But you did say what you said.
Glad to see you finally using the correct forum account. Thank You.
Now in an attempt to get the thread back on topic, I think Admin has said what is the ultimate truth
