Re: Keep or move
Very much in favour.
From my own experience with forums, nothing beats having your own forum on your own domain. Limited options, search functions, skins.. etcetera.. all these things disappear when you have your own forums.
Not to mention you can have your own ads on the pages, generating more money to support the game with. (I can imagine that would be a good thing for all of us.)
And, but that's just my own personal thing, it looks a lot more professional.
A huge "in favour", from me.
I can ask a few colleagues with programming skills about such a post transfer.. but I'm sure the talents are in-house as well.

Definite supporter here
and FTR, Post count really means nothing, and I have the second highest only behind Admin and I would give them all for a new/better set of forums.

Re: Keep or move
Go for it
Maybe to get around the "old topic's not included in new forum" issue - simply have a link to this forum (from the new forum - maybe in a topic saying "Old forum topic archive: Link" - and anyone who wants to check out old topic's for future reference can still visit it? Just to prevent this forum continuing to be used lock all topic's? lol

Re: Keep or move
Uhm well being the game is about to take a whole new style of play and basically a fresh start. I agree that we should move and get a fresh forum to go with the new updates

I'm all for it. I like Ian's idea to just link to this forum with locked topics. Done and done.

Re: Keep or move
I am all for it. As I am all for the idea of the link back to this forum for archive purposes.
As for the post count I don't mind either way if they are brought accross or not,
Brought accross = I still have a high post count.
Not brought accross = I can get a new high post count

Re: Keep or move
If post count is the only thing that keeps people stay in here, then it should not be a big deal, afterall we can set a starting post count for each and everyone.
I personally like this forum and don't think we need to move.
But show me some awesome things the other forum can do and maybe I will change my mind (or not).

Re: Keep or move
The forum would then be on the same server as the game, right? So you'll have increased traffic on the server, and possibly ingame/forum lag as a result?

Re: Keep or move
Just a thought, if the game and forum are on the same server,
when the server crashes, you would lose the game and forum?
Not saying it will crash, just curious.

Re: Keep or move
No one is saying we can't keep this one as an emergency backup
but yes, if the game server would crash, so would the other forum with a significant probability be also affected
