Faster log in
In the next round of updates logging in will be faster as you will only have to fill out 3 fields instead of current 4.
Currently you have to fill out: Code, Username, Email and Password. It will be shortened to: Code, Email and Password.

Re: Faster log in
for clarification the "email" is a "Username OR Email" login fieldNomad wrote:Sounds good.
You can login with your username or email, however you can set in your settings that username will NOT be accepted as login
Upon release, the default setting will be that username use is DISallowed, which you can enable again
Re: Faster log in
Thank You for the further clarification and explanation of beginning state and use.

You can disallow username login so that only your registered email (which is unknown to other players) is accepted

You have to enter the correct e-mail address

Re: Faster log in
The bug is fixed but there is still an annoying display issue.
After you click into the fields to enter the required data the name for the field disappears and the field moves up to where the field name was.
I think it would be better to move the field names back to beside the input fields and keep them displayed rather than having the input fields move around like they do now

What browser do you use?

The only option I can imagine is you using some seriously ancient browser, like IE 6 or something (I tested this with IE 8, opera, chrome and ff they all work, I'm not saying IE 6 won't work but I have no way of testing it as I dont have it on any the machines I have access to), in which case you should take this as yet another strong hint to upgrade to something that's remotely secure for today's standards.

Re: Faster log in
To clear things up I am using Firefox 10.0.2, so no my browser is not old or outdated.
The change to placing the names into the input box has fixed the issue although I still don't know why a layout change was really needed because all that has really happened is that one option has been removed

Re: Faster log in
You do have more space to type in your email address.
If it makes any problems I'd suggest it is moved to the side outside the input box then.
Manleva would you mind reloading the page and trying again. Does the same problem still happen?

Re: Faster log in
As stated in my previous post the problem has been resolved.
I will also add that i only ever have to type in the code and the password.
Firefox allows for common inputs to be remembered so my usernames and email address are available for selection from a list when I click in the input field a second time. This was the reason I fount the movement of the input fields annoying because I had to move the mouse when the field moved.
I also consider it poor coding and design when different objects on web pages move when there is no reason for them to. Makes me think that the webmaster / designer /Admin is just lazy and it always makes me feel that it's not really worth wasting time on the site.

Re: Faster log in
Since admin checked many browsers and fixed all issues I wouldn't call him lazy. It's understandable that some versions of some browsers may act differently than those which he tested.
But I have to say that other games often don't bother testing their codes on any browser other than the one that their admins primarily use and more often than not you will have issues if you use any except one specific browser.
Our admin is way ahead of them.

Re: Faster log in
I was not calling our Admin lazy, in fact generally he is the opposite and in this instance he is following the appropriate process because he is doing it in the test server and addressing issues that are raised.

Re: Faster log in
I still dont get what your issue was (as in the problem you were having), although I am 30% sure I MIGHT know what you have been experiencing, which was probably some buggy CSS issue.Manleva wrote:I was not calling our Admin lazy, in fact generally he is the opposite and in this instance he is following the appropriate process because he is doing it in the test server and addressing issues that are raised.
Re: Faster log in
You changed the log in from looking like this (Please excuse the poor layout)
Game Login
Capta Code
Code: Input Field
Username: Input Field
Email: Input Field
Password: Input Field
To
Game Login
Capta Code
Code
Input Field
Username or
Email
Input Field
Password

So after clicking on the Code Input field what I saw was this
Game Login
Capta Code
Input Field
Username or
Email
Input Field
Password
Input Field
What was happening was that whenever I clicked on any of the input fields the name above the Input field disappeared and the input field moved upwards to where its name was. This may possibly have also been related to my display as I am using a laptop but it's not something I have encountered before

yeh so basically i'm now 90% sure I know what he is seeing, which is definitely not thiskingkongfan1 wrote:I am on a desk top computer using ff 10.0.2 & I have none of this that Manleva describes. hope this is helpful.
clear your cache, update browser manleva. This one is on your end and there's absolutely nothing I can do about it
You are most likely seeing the page with the old stylesheet instead of the newer one (add into your browser setting that it should check documents more often instead of keeping them cached forever)

Re: Faster log in
yes, the issue manleva is having is that the grey text isn't shown inside the text fields but is probably white and is shown separately.
then the css is setup that it disappears when you click on email field
so, basically manleva needs to drop the old stylesheet in his cache and have the browser load the new one

Re: Faster log in
I give up
Well no I don't or at least not yet and will have one more go.
Please remember this, as I have stated previously - There is no longer any Issue and I now see exactly what is displayed below.
The ongoing discussion has simply been my attempt to explain what I saw after the initial change and what was happening with it. After the first change you had the names if the fields above the input boxes. When I clicked into the input box the name would disappear and the input box would move upwards which I found annoying and messy.
You then made another change and placed the name inside the input box (as it now is) and this fixed the issue.
I did however raise the question as to what was wrong with the old layout where the name was beside the input box simply because I would have thought it was easier to adjust what was already coded than to rework that whole area of the page as has been done. Still whatever, it works fore me and looks tidy as well and the input boxes do not move around any more.
As I said above there has been no issues since the change to the current login fields was implemented. As this was the Test server I simply thought that Admin would appreciate a better description of what I was seeing while the issue was there and also took the time to provide some feedback on the appearance. The current coding works fine but personally I still prefer how it looks on main where the names are outside and immediately to the left of the input boxes and do not disappear. I don't think I have ever come across any web page that does not leave the name of the input field displayed
