Flag counter not recording all visits properly

It came to my attention that the flag counter isn't very reliable, or doesn't count visitors the way I believed it does.

I thought that each unique visitor gets counted once, but if the same person visits the page over and over again, he will add +1 to his country per day.

In other words, if I live in country A and I have visited AW yesterday and once today, then I increased country A flag by a total of 2.

There is however a problem. I go on AW every single day, but there were roughly 4 days, where the flag counter didnt increase the number of visits for my flag.

Is it because the flag counter allocated my IP to the wrong country, or because it didnt record my visit at all?

The FAQ says:

Will my own visits to my site be counted in my Flag Counter?

After your first visit we set a cookie, so that a visitor is only counted once.

It's not clear if this is true for all days, or if the cookies will be resetted after each single day.

How do you think it works?

I delete the cookies everytime... how does this affect?

Now that you mention it; I delete them also every time I log off, that may have something to do with it... maybe...

Do you delete them automatically or manually?

This action should theoretically increase the ammount of visits, but in reality they are lower than they should be.

Either the info that someone visited doesnt always get recorded or it gets directed to the wrong country.

Not sure where the problem is.

I have the assumption that some flag counts can be lost if people are using proxies (those are usually based in USA), and another thing is that some IPs might simply be attributed to the wrong country. Maybe my visit gets recorded as Germany or one of the neighbouring countries.

hehehe I see you guys used the flag counter that I found , sharing ideas are always a good thing hehe
