Ads

You probably noticed the 2 white blocks on the top of the page.
It's gonna stay white until someone makes a bid to have his ads on our site. We get payed depending on how high the top bid is and depending on how many days it stays up.

Anyways for now all the money we earn with ads will be put back into ads on other sites, actually right now we obviously pay more for ads than receive back from them and I expect it to stay like that for a very long while.

Additionally I'll probably give an option for VIP package holders to be able to turn off ads.

hey admin, can players buy an ad spot?

and love the "turn it off" option as well.

Would be nice if you made it standard black background instead of white.

Wow, never realised so many Romanians were here. its an intresting spread globally.

it's not just about how many romanian players, although there is a good number of them.

It's also that in eastern europe, ISP's generally tend to give dynamic ip adresses to their customers more often than in western europe. Sometimes even asking for extra fees to be paid if you want a static ip adress.

So 10 romanian players might result in 15-25 unique visitors in one day (if they login a few times). But 10 UK, or US might only result in 10-15 unique visitors in one day.

afaik this is the site that we're using, Kenzu is kinda responsible for doing the ads.
I think right now you can even buy the spot paying 0$ per day, but should anyone bid even 1$ per day then your ad wont display anymore

its true .. most of isps have dynamic ip ( well all got .. but you know .. depends what the user wants .. i guess you could request a dynamic if you dont like static) .. usually you need to pay 2 more euros per month for a static ip ( its not much).. but most of users love dynamic ip ..
most of players in the game are romanians btw .. but many speak english (like me)
also im not sure the persons who will publish their ads would like those to be removed for a specific user class even though i agree with it

yes but what kira meant is that less people might be willing to offer money if they know some players will not see the ads at all.

anyways as a response:
look if the user choses to turn it off that means the ad will get displayed less often

But the bidders will see this because the main advertising site records daily views and unique visits of that ad, so the end result will be that there will simply be less unique visits in the statistics of that ad, which the bidders will simply percieve as less "total" players.

People are bidding how much they want to pay per day. If person A was bidding for 1$ and person B for 0.5$,

then the person A, who was bidding with 1$ wins and will have his ad on our site for the price of 0.5$

if after half a day person C comes and bids with 2$, person C ad will appear immediately on our site for the price 1$.
(Person B paid 0.25$ sofar for keeping the ad on our site for half a day.)

When you bid against someone, the person who was bidding highest will win and have his ad displayed for the second highest price.

if you bid and are unsucessful at biddingt he highest amount, are you charged / are there any charges for bidding

i would say anyone bidding need be careful, since its possible the high man pulls out and you get the bid without knowing if your not careful

Ok, most of you probably noticed another "skyscraper" ad on the sidebar and one wide one at the bottom of the page.

we decided that we'll allow turning off ads, sgw style.
You turn them on, you get some bonus, you turn them off, you play without that bonus.

Initially we thought just giving 1% income boost. Now i'm thinking more of something like giving 4-5 stat points which you can put into attack, covert, defense or income.

no charges at all.
You only pay if your bid won, and you never pay more than what you are bidding at per day.

that's why you should bid with the amount you are willing to pay. Then when the highest bidder leaves, you are the one who has his ads up.

I think we should simply give 1% income boost (otherwise people would turn the ads on only if they go to war to increase their stats)

Ads should be turned on by default.
