Armor purchase
The sole purpose of armor is to help in some cases turn a potentially mortal wound into a simple bruise or a flesh wound.
(basically reducing the amount of casualties you take. If an armor type says that it reduces deaths by 2% then if you arm your whole army with that armor you will suffer 2% less deaths, if you arm one half of your troops then you'll save 1% of them, etc.)
However just because the option is there doesn't mean every leader will use it.
It is said that one cannot put a price tag on lives.
Some generals argue that very strongly.
Whether they are right or wrong is however not their choice to make.

Re: Armor purchase
Maybe several variants on armor. Such as:
Killsafe armor: Stops units dying, but hit units get knocked out for X ticks.
Killfriendly: reduces deaths.
Killtastic: Increases the enemy deaths (In a defense situation) of the unit, expensive.
Killgunner: makes the units and their weapons invunerable, decays after X battles, not repairable.

maybe building a workshop where you upgrade your weapons
offense +2 / defense +2
//attk
bronze
iron
...
//def
leather clothing
bronze helmet
leather armor
bronze plating
bronze roof
bronze plating

Re: Armor purchase
i dont think its a good idea, will make game even more complicated.
instead make another soldier:
super soldier with armor
training cost: 500.000
casualties decreased by 50%
(super soldiers die twice faster than armored super soldier)
(might deal two times more damage)
OR
armored super soldier
training cost: 400.000
same attack as super soldier
casualties decreased by 50% (super soldiers die twice faster than armored super soldier)

Re: Armor purchase
personally, I wouldn't mind armor upgrades and such, as long as its reasonably priced, it add an interesting dimension to the game

Re: Armor purchase
instead of adding an armor purchase make it a Research Basic Technology Upgrade .
1 for each group. 10 levels each level is x% upgrade some upgrades have extra bonuses.
spy armor - reduce amount of spies killed by x %
Assassin armor - reduce amount of assassins killed by x %
defense troop armor - reduce amount of defense troops killed by x % and increase defense power an extra .5 %
attack troop armor - reduce amount of attack troops killed by x % . reduces destruction mission penalty by 2 % for each upgrade

Re: Armor purchase
make an armored unit, better than super, but much more costly
dont make more options, simply add new unit.
keep the game as easy for new players to understand as possible

Re: Armor purchase
Well after thinking this through more, its kinna like MS techs on TGW. if everyone can buy them, and they are all powered the same, then its just something to waste Kewal on and has no true benifit in the long run. You armor your strike, they armor their defense. both are more powerful but everything is still the same.
IDK about a new unit class, can't say I'm for it nor against it.
would like to say, if it is done, make it so every unit in this class can be killed down to 0, and give them some permanant weapon so strike takes damage down till the last man dies.
