lol, thanks buddy. Sadly in the United Kingdom, tuition fee's (since labour came into power) amount to £3,300 per year for English students, £1,200 a year for welsh students, £0 a year for scottish students (and not sure about northern ireland).
The differences between the amount students pay from the different states (wales, scotland, england, northern ireland) forming the united kingdom is the result of labour's screwed up policy of "devolution" - giving Scotland a nearly independent parliament (thus the ability to pass legislation dictating tuition fee's (free), medical care, dental care etc... among other things), giving wales a barely independent assembly (but the ability to make decisions/ laws which result in cheaper tuition fee's), and not giving England a parliament at all
I live 4miles from the welsh border (in England), if i lived just 4 miles further my tuition fee's would be £3,600 for 3 years studying, instead of the £9,900 they will be because i m English.
In addittion to tuition fee's, everyone (regardless of which state they are from) gets a maintaince loan of £3,800 a year, to pay for things like rent (normally £2,800, but vary's considerably), plus living expenses. Welsh and scottish students get bursaries for these as well (i.e. the welsh bursary - £1000 a year i think for simply being welsh) - so in effect welsh students only take out a £2,800 loan for the maintaince loan.
The result - i m in debt for £9,900 for tuition fee's (vs. £3,600 if i was welsh, and £0 if i was scottish), and at least £11,400 in debt for maintaince loan - enabling me to even rent accomodation (vs. at maximum £8,400 if i was welsh - and even less if i was scottish!).
The entire UK democratic system is completely screwed (with england having no parliament at all, wales barely having one etc...!), the result is massive injustices/ discrimination when it comes to things like tuition fee's, healthcare/ prescriptions (i.e. England has to pay - wales, scotland don't), dental care (free for wales/ scotland - english have to pay), taxation etc... - and the most remarkable thing is there are still idiots out there (and infact a growing number if scotland's voting the scottish national party is anything to go by!) who claim England is oppressing the other states.
The even more remarkable thing is, despite labour being single handedly responsible for this discrimination (by implementing devolution - before they came into power the UK had just 1 all governing parliament for the entire country - westminister), many people, even though agreeing the system is completely mucked up with each state having differing parliaments (England with none), and many of them being English (the vast majority of the UK population is english - something like 55million out of the UK's 62million) thus getting the worse deal ever, labour still got elected in for a 3rd time (this was after invading iraq as well).
Winston churchill was right - to quote him "the greatest argument against democracy is a 10minute conversation with the average British voter". Your lucky your countries electorate is more intelligant than the UK's lol.
Overall, it sucks not so much being a UK student - it sucks big time being a English student

Now, now, don't be hasty.
P.S: Our fees are so small because the quality of our education is zero.

lol, even if i studied in scotland i d still have had to have paid £3,300 fee's Would have called in for a cupa on the way though
Rumour has it the tuition system will be changed to be equal again, which while it won't help me/ those currently in uni, will at least help everyone else later on lol. It needs changing though - the last thing the UK needs is a large chunk of Englands current students (thus the main chunk of the future of Britain) growing up feeling resentful towards scotland/ wales for all the handouts they get vs. what england has. The current system is simply sowing anger and division/ feelings of injustice - and thats looking at only the student picture (so not including medicine, dentists, healthcare in general, no english parliament etc...) - which can all boil down to a break down in a "UK" identity, and give rise to increased support for nationalists and anti-unionists
Its even possible our beloved nation (Great Britain) - the oldest of the western powers, and a nation which has been a major world power all its history since its creation in the act of union - might simply cease to exist one day... potentially as early as 2010 if scotland gets its independence referendum Labours killed the UK potentially with thier idiotic devolution design.

actually mate, not only does scotland have hgiher graduation passes but their whole level of education is way better, take english building reg's for example, while i was training for my joinery quals, in england, there margin for error was around 5mm, while in scotland the margin was 2mm, therefore meaning half the joiners in britain wouldnt have passed the scottish reg's.... overall scotlands education / vocation levels are nearly twice as hard to pass, but their overall pass rates are better, so in all fairness, the scottish tradesman etc are quite possibly close to englands equivilant to master craftsman....

Quite a few of the subjects I studied had completely unprepared professors. I usually knew more than them. Either that or they'd hammer us with abstract theoretical bullshit. What are you gonna learn from that situation ? Everything I know, I found out on my own.

Re: Congratulation to GRADUATES
you see...my point, sand...if you want to study in the true meaning of the word you have to do it on your own, if not, I'll pass the exams anyway and graduate...that's our system...as for them, I find it nasty on the financial part...and these national differences...but we also have some types of differences:for gypsies and students coming from the Republic of Moldova...minorities things...anyway, if it is so costly in the UK, why don't you come study in our country
