Captcha is easy to read?
captcha
if we are having to put a very annoying code in to login at least could you make it bigger and easier to read

Re: captcha
i specifically played around with them so that they are easily readable
from about 9 out of 10 images i know which letters to put in within about half a second of looking at it

Sign in Captcha
UGH.
This thing is not only a pain, it's HARD TO READ. sure, 3 characters, but blurred and the same color as the background..
Is there not a way, such as facebook and other social networking sites have done, to allow us to not use captchas? We've already verified our accounts through email, why add this for every login?

Re: captcha
I know it's useful, I know why it's useful but DUDE, you're killing me.
I usually login to bank from bed at night and this captcha is gonna mess my mojo up big time.
Couldn't you make it a little more readable or bigger ? To a program trying to get shapes the subtle tones of color are as different as black and white but to a human eye at 4 AM and after sleep it's MURDER.

Re: captcha
hmm made a poll without noticing this topic.
but hard to read?
is my eyesight that much better than the rest of the world?
cos I played around with it to make it easy to read.
i can get easily 9 out of 10 by looking at it for less than a sec.
edit: social networking sites don't have to care if a bot does a login to bank
plus i just looked at facebook cos you quoted it.
what they have doesn't protect from bot login

Re: captcha
maybe if you're staring at your screen. [ also, it's not about eyesight, it's about shape recognition ]
I just saw a 'Y' defined by a light red line but missing one of the legs that make it a Y. It looked like a wider '>'.
Also, like I said, I don't get why you're trying so much to work the colors. If you're trying to mess autologiners up you'll do that by messing with the shapes, not colors.

Re: captcha
the different colors are there so that you can see the different letters when they end up being one on top of the other, otherwise you'd end up with one big blob of color not being able to recognize jack
you're free to give me hex codes for the letters, background and the horizontal and vertical images which you feel would be better readable

That's what I thought first but it doesn't seem to always work.
As for hex codes, dark on light, light on dark. I mean, navy blue is ALWAYS gonna be easier to read than light cyan on a white background.

Re: captcha
I HATE it. We've already confirmed our accounts!
What's this goin to do other than tick us off? It's blurry. It's hard to read. It's a pain. I'd not have it save the rest of my information if I wanted to use a captcha.
So what if YOU can get 9/10 just by looking at it for less than a second. What's the point of having it? And yes, I made another topic because I didn't see the "topic" of this one having anything to do with the captchas and it says not really a question.... CHANGE THE TOPIC TOO so more won't be makin the same mistake.
Lose the captcha. I failed it the first time because I couldn't read it. As above, Sandwalker wakes up to bank...... you think everyone when they wake up in the middle of the night can use both eyes and it's clear? So now you want Sandwalker to completely wake up to do nothing more than BANK his kuwal...... interrupting his entire sleep because now he's fully awake..... hurts his job, making him tired at work, etc. Come on. lose it already.
The one I failed was so blurry I couldn't read it at all! The letters were blurred INTO the background color which was pretty much the same color as the letters. You cannot say they're all THAT different. We're all going to have eyestrain from trying to make out the letters on a captcha - it's one reason I quit voting - I hate the damned things. I opted out on facebook and myspace using my cell phone so I didn't have to have captchas. I HATE THEM.
AGAIN, no REAL reason for it!

A small example of what I said in a previous post about it not always working:
It's not hard to read for me but for some other folk it might be.

Re: captcha
I haven't heard anyone be for it other than the admin either. The others posting here are all complaining it's hard to read. Not big enough, letters are indistinguishable. Take your pick. We've already confirmed our accounts! We don't need the captchas on login!

Kismet,
The captcha is necessary. IT always was and I was surprised the admin didn't launch the game with one. We're just trying to make it as comfortable as possible. I don't support removing the captcha, just improving it.
I'll try and get examples with hex codes and replacements.
LE: Are you working on it now ? I don't seem to get the light tones anymore.

Re: captcha
yes there is a reason, however if you dont know it then you can also ask, its not like no one would tell you.
although I'm also up for removing it and making autobanking scrips and any other form of bot activity completely legal that's another alternative if you want it

if by staring you mean watching from half a metre distance like any other normal person does when they are on the computerSandwalker wrote:maybe if you're staring at your screen.
Re: captcha
while i like the idea at the moment the images you are using are very hard to read. not the size of the images thats the problem its the colours being used. There needs to be a better contrast between the background and the letter numbers. Also you do have to realise that must autologin programs can read images nowadays (were developed when people started to use them to stop spam bots). You could possible use something like you use on the recruiting screen were you have to pick out the correct number from random string

Re: captcha
ok, so what's it for? Don't say cheating. If someone's having an issue with someone breaking into their account, make us change our passwords weekly. Someone using a password is always going to be able to see the captcha anyway. Computer scripts? There are hundreds of browser games that do not use it and have no need for it. So unless you're stating here that AW has a larger percentage of HACKERS...... I want it removed. Or give me all the $$ I've put into this game and I'll go elsewhere. No big for me if you do it that way, because I won't be putting more $$ into it while that captcha is there. No warning. Give us another way of opting out of it or figure something else out.
Either:
Admit your site has more hackers than the other hundreds of browser based games do
Give me the 200 USD back and I'll leave quietly - deleting my account so someone else can be #22 in the rankings.

I myself am not always at my computer when I try to login. 10-15% of the time I'm in bed.
I refreshed through some images and yeah, they're ok now (don't know why I got the screwed up ones when I first tried to login, bad luck) if you're at the computer. I did notice a few odd ones out but those are just exceptions.

Re: captcha
If you can't read the code then reload the page, some codes are easy to read and it takes only few seconds to reload the page.
Re: captcha
I noticed a lot of them while refreshing. I could read maybe 2 out of 10 EASILY. If I had a way of posting some of these, I would. Not sure how they''re goin to turn out here. The letters running over and being hidden by other letters? Please, yes that''s very hard to read. ok, tryin to upload them didn''t work, but I have several saved.
F or P?
B or R? N or lopsided V?

Re: captcha
1) you can reload image without having to reload page, just right click and then press on reload image
2) not sure what mmo's you're talking about but any serious game I played had a login code and a few more on other places
3) unlike other admins i don't like keeping quiet about issues, neither do i pretend they will never happen. I've seen admins just pretend to ignore cheaters and autobankers because they didn't want to officially admit they exist and they didn't do anything to stop them for half a year.

No, I had them saved. Already on my system, the forums here are weird for uploading images.
