Happy New Year! Empty Happy New Year!

Post by Kenzu Sun Jan 01, 2012 1:58 pm

Happy new year everyone!

Today is January 1st 2012, it is the 3rd birthday of Aderan Wars. The game has changed a lot over the last three years bringing revolutionary updates combatting the flaws that so many browser games suffer from.

The new year has started and the game is about to release many updates, which could be considered the biggest update in the history of Aderan Wars. Let's have a look at some of the updates that the new year is about to bring:

New features:
Airforce - Bringing 4 types of military units, effectively doubling the number of military types, and almost doubling the number of missions, which can be done against a player.
Gold - Making a lot of things easier, and further bolstering trade between players (once players can trade gold with each other).
New invitation system - allowing players to receive real money when invited players donate, and paying out players who want ingame rewards in gold so that players can chose themselves what they want to get.
New buildings - Many buildings including buildings that allow research and construction of an airforce.

Updates:
Better research system - Allows players to research an expensive technology without having to save up all the kuwal at once.
New images for land based weapons - Special thanks to Rebel, who is responsible for doing most of them.
Updated Galacted Market page
And a lot of other improvements

No, because the first update was also the biggest update in AW history. But it obviously gets harder to brake a record with each time that you achieve it.

Yes, it started in 2009, and now that 2 years passed, it celebrates it's 2nd birthday.

OMG you are right. I keep living with the feeling that it's still 2011 even though I know it's 2012. The year passed so fast.

So Aderan Wars really is 3 years old now. Now that's an achievement!

So I was asked this in a PM....

Kenzu Tue 3 Jan - 8:07
How come so many people left at once? And is there any specific reason why it happened after the new year?
My answer to him was

Tired of the game. Its going in a direction that sucks
The updates stink.

No matter what is said it doesn't matter.
The game started dying when it was deicded that losses have to be close to equal
It went down drasticly with PTR
AF is leaving a lot to be desired.
The gold update change isn't all that great.
The over all lack of response from admin(s).

Happy New Year! Empty Re: Happy New Year!

Post by Vex Thu Jan 05, 2012 2:31 pm

This post was to celebrate a happy new year.
A new year can be a new beginning for the game.
There are changes that are being implemented.
And there are players that are leaving, but this
can be a good thing, since the creation of TMI
in a way killed the game, because it created one
alliance which had two to three times as much
power as the second highest alliance, and so
TMI if they wanted take out each top level player
one by one who wasn't part of one 'World Republic'
or 'Mujengan' and so TMI did this, and since TMI
was so powerful these individual players could not
fight back and retaliate against a group of players
that could dominate the game. TMI likely would also
have gone after top members of 'World Republic' and
'Mujengan', but luckily for TMI they were engaged in
a war and they were perfectly happy destroying
themselves, all to the delight of TMI. So... back to
the main point, many TMI members left, but this is not
a bad thing, since now they are not with immunity and
they are now at a power level that another alliance
like 'World Republic' could go to war with them if needed.

Along with being a stat building game, this is a game of war.
As such, no one alliance should have enough power to attack
all the top one hundred players from the other alliances, and
attack all top players without an alliance, and TMI could and
to a degree did do this, and in a way they won, and so the game
ended and the game as it was died. So now what happens,
Admin will be implementing a few changes and preferably these
changes will be seen as upgrades and not changes for change sake.
Games can rise and fall over time, and if Aderan does not adapt
it will fail, so hopefully the changes and new players will have a
positive effect on the game. Let us give 2012 a chance, and be
happy that it is here and 2011 is over. Change is here, embrace it.

I thought TMI was closer to 30-45% of the active players? We were the biggest group of actives, that's for sure.

Please explain to me how TMI coming together is any different from mass recruiting every player you can get? I can only see 1 difference, and that is that TMI decided to recruit players they knew they could work with and count on to have each others back, while WR took whatever they could get. We spent time figuring out how to become more powerful, and WR spent most of their time messaging every new player and trying to convince them that their alliance is the way to go. Going on and on about how we were stronger than any other alliance is absolutely ridiculous, considering power is the only reason they accept anyone and everyone who wants to join. After looking through the forum over the last few weeks, it's obvious that this game didn't die with the creation of TMI. It's been dying since WR started recruiting every 2-bit account they could find.

The formation and subsequent attacks of TMI were like the last straw that broke the camel's back. Yes, I'll agree that Aderan Wars was heading down hill long before the creation of TMI. And the thought behind the creation of TMI was logical, that being having an alliance composed of active players, instead of two that had less than active players. Yet the problem lies with one alliance having so much power it can take on all other alliances at once and be victorious. Having a lot of players is not the concern if they're all weak like with WR, but having an alliance composed of over half the top players, eliminates the possibility of equitable competition. For example the USA spending more in military spending than the next ten highest countries combined. There is no point in going to war against the USA, since it would take all of the rest of the world working together to even have the slightest chance of victory. Likewise in the realm of Aderan Wars having one alliance with too much power creates a disequilibrium and lessens the odds for fair play within the game. Consequentially, I'll agree the the creation of TMI did not cause this game to fail, yet it did help.

I can respect that view, but there's nothing that can be done to stop the forming of large alliances in games like this. Sooner or later these all of these games either die, or put their focus on the remaining players that spend money on it and making all future updates revolve around them to keep them happy and playing.

You're obviously looking for an argument and not a discussion. Read what I said again. I never blamed the death of this game on the quality of WR's players, I blamed it on their size. Sure, WR has plenty of terrible accounts, but it also has some decent accounts, even if they are owned by fools.
