You can go easy to 100-200k army without needing one. Though it's best to join one sooner rather than later.

yup sooner the better. If your joining an alliance be sure to check the war threads and get a real taste of what ur getting into

(definitely dont join commonwealth alliance, as they are preparing for a total war.)

Total war? Seems like a good opportunity to get some good turn-farming done.. *grin* But I see your point. It's just that I have been part of (and quite an integral part in the beginning) the Commonwealth alliance in TGW.de, so the name sounds familiar.


I tried to make sense of the alliances and political situation here, seems pretty complicated for a simple mind like myself. A few small elite alliances, and a rather massive block World Republic (my CO is in there, great guy).

What's the point of a one man alliance? (Except you show up as part of an alliance when someone is farming.)
As for complicated politics, there is tension at the moment between WR and the Commonwealth. Alliances that have mutual protection pacts with these two (Federation of independent planets has a MDP with WR), as well as empire members (The Company in TIE, Union of Aderan Republics and Urban Empire in O), may get dragged in. It is unclear what role, if any, the other alliances will play.
That is the only war I know of. If you want to be certain you steer clear of these troubles, start your own or see whether there is an existing one-man alliance you can join with someone you like and who responds to your PM's.
If you are more adventurous, well, you can join the Federation of independent planets or any of the other alliances mentioned above.

OK souldog, I did not mean to continue the TIE - WR thread here. It is in alliance wars / treaties. Three of the four posts are about the tension mentioned. The fourth ended up being about it.
Still, if he wants no part in it, he should avoid any of the parties mentioned. It does not change my advice.

I find it funny how this "war" which doesn't actually exist as of yet has managed to spill out even to the reaches of poor universe's thread, lol.

By the way, welcome to the game! Hope you enjoy it and meet some people to form/join an alliance with. Just avoid disco parties, as there seems to be a war on that floor tomorrow evening
