Recruitment

Post by Vance on Mon Oct 19, 2009 12:20 pm

Hey folks, is it just me or isn't there any way to motivate players to recruit their friends into this game?

I've just noticed that AW isn't very big, and it's not gaining a larger active member base very quickly. Maybe it's a good idea to offer some kind of bonus/gift to players that introduce new people? Maybe market reserves or untrained units, or whatever?

I think adding some ''motivational bonuses'' would greatly increase the influx of new players, which would make the game world bigger and, probably, more interesting Smile

There really has to be much more incentive for people to recruit more players (and the incentive has to be transparent).

I recommend 50 Attack Turns if you get a new player to play

+100 AT if that player reaches quarter the average army size and plays for 1 month

+150 AT if that players reaches half an the average size and plays for 3 months

+200 AT if that players reaches the average size and plays for 6 months

So you can get a total of 500 AT for a player who will not only join the game, but keep playing for at least half a year.

PS: Average armysize is currently about 220.000 population. Players start with 3040 population.

I'm in favor of untrained units, really. But increasing the rewards when the ''recruits'' keep playing seems like a good idea, although I'm not sure wether it'll be easy to code....

Admin, what are your thoughts on this?

Alliance: The "z0mg Ninjas" Clan
We are an elite group of frisbee players that have decided to take our adventures in a different direction. We are no longer the murderous folk our ancestors once were. Our goals in life are simply to blow up human corpses into thousands of little pieces and the scavenge through their belongings and take everything. If you wish to join this gang of ninjai just think really hard about it...and by utilizing my ninja skill i will be able to tell you want to join and will form a telekinetic mind link in which i will evaluate your usefulness to the clan.
If you do not meet the requirements, odds are, while I am in your brain...I'll change your desktop background and probably call your mother and talk to her about the weather. If, however, you are deemed worthy...you will be instantly cast into the gauntlet in which you will learn the ninja arts or die trying...once passed, you will be a standing member of z0mg Ninjas.
Look for us where ever you see no pants.....well wait...don't look there...unless I guess you want to look there...but I mean...we're the only ones who don't have pants..so you probably would wanna look there...so...umm in conclusion......uhh.....we have no pants.

but the problem is that uu loose value fast, while AT keep their value and the player has to do something to get more kuwal.

Well, then make the amount of UU gained per recruit depend on the UP of the player that recruits them?

Or maybe I just like it because of the flavour, I dunno. It makes more sense to me that when you recruit others, you get untrained units.

you could make it that if a player reaches half the average army size the person that recruited them gets 1/4th of the average army size or even gets half of the average army size. This could be abused though

I'm all for doing anything to get more people here, but if your a true player or fan of this game you will recruit players with or without any bonuses.

All these, bonuses can be abused by those with massive MSN lists and players from other games who would come and just be active enough to get their friend a bonus.

Seems we dont have enough true fans here.

Bonuses shouldnt be too big, but shouldn't be too small either.

If players stay active, they should get more bonuses.

PS: It is easier to check on players who stay active if they are cheating or not, than on players who log in only once. Therefore the bonuses cannot stop at registration of a player.

most people are in for the quick buck, so most wont bother to try doing something that requires activity of 6 months

Not disagreeing with the heart of the idea, like I said I am all for doing anything to get more players here, just playing devils advocate to show some abuses/exploits to look for.
